The Analysis of Social Services and Evaluation Team (ASSET) is a partnership between Iowa State University Government of the Student Body (GSB), City of Ames, the State of Iowa Local Department of Human Services, Story County, and the Story County United way, joined together to deal with the complexities of funding human services in the area. Services include mental health, probation, shelter, battery, childcare, and legal services. Because GSB is a funder in this process, these services are offered to students at discounted rates or even possibly without charge.
The GSB Team consists of the Finance Director who serves as the staff member, the Treasurer who serves as the lead volunteer, and three other volunteers from the student body to help in funding recommendations. The team making recommendations for fiscal year 2011 is delineated below:

This group partners with the other funders by holding regular meetings to collect and assemble a standardized program and financial information, visit agencies, and hold hearings for agency presentations. In all, this group of volunteers is responsible for the efficient allocation of upwards of $140,000 of student fee dollars.
