Senate Committees

Within the Senate, there are several committees that each exist to focus on a particular topic. There are four standing (permanent) committees, and a number of ad hoc (temporary) committees.

Standing Committees

Rules CommitteeThe Rules Committee reviews all proposed Senate legislation to ensure that it complies with the GSB Constitution and Bylaws, as well as any applicable local, state, and federal laws. The Rules Committee also edits all legislation as needed to ensure that it follows standard conventions of spelling, grammar, and formatting.
Finance CommitteeThe Finance Committee reviews all financial legislation, drafts the finance priorities and criteria, and runs the regular and special allocations processes.
Public Relations CommitteeThe public relations committee was formed to help plan and execute the public relations strategy for the Government of the Student Body. This duty includes informing students and media about relevant GSB activities so that the public is aware of what GSB is doing.
University Affairs CommitteeThis committee is responsible for coordinating most of the GSB senate action on university policy initiatives, finding student representatives to serve on university committees, and dealing with any issues that may arise internally to the university that are likely to have a major effect on students.
