Goals
The following are the goals for the 2007-2008 school year.
Executive Branch
- Improve the image of GSB
- Approach faculty in Marketing about making a class project out of improving GSB's image, by the end of the Fall Semester.
- Improve visibility at informational events
- Purchase a new, more visible banner, as soon as the logo is finalized.
- Creation of a nice tri-fold display by the end of the Spring semester
- Send information on large events to University News Service to place on the ISU Home-page
- Rearrange GSB website to focus on accomplishments
- Increase student involvement in GSB
- Present information on GSB to other organizations at organizational meetings.
- Create a plan to form non-title based jobs within GSB by the end of the Fall semester.
- Create a list of committees that have student or GSB positions available and have these positions filled by the end of the Fall semester.
- Increase the involvement of GSB in the community
- Create a list of GSB and student positions on committees in the city of Ames and the community and have these positions filled by the end of the Fall semester.
- Compile a list of community volunteer opportunities and have GSB participate in at least one volunteer event by the end of the Spring semester.
Legislative Branch
Finance Committee
- Increase "Funded by GSB" labeling by the end of Special Allocations
- Discuss ways of monitoring and how levels of funding affect labeling requirements.
- Email all funded groups
- Create handout explaining the rule and consequences for breaking it
- Follow up on consequences ( in a friendly manner)
- Address groups not understanding the allocations process by October 1st
- Determine and utilize better ways of communicating to groups about procedures and rationale for decisions made
- Include more details and a more thorough explanation of procedures during informational sessions.
Public Relations Committee
- Improve the awareness and brand image for the Government of the Student Body by:
- Designing a new logo
- Creating a new motto/phrase
- Sending out a consistent message to students and faculty about current GSB activities and issues
- Improve awareness of Government of the Student Body members and roles to students and faculty
Rules Committee
- Develop a statement of purpose by September 14th
- Evaluate Committee structure by October 17th
- Review ByLaws completely by February 6th
- Review university policies and their impact on students
- Begin by the end of the Fall Semester
- Evaluate at least five policies
University Affairs Committee
- Serve as a gateway to GSB for student issues
- Hold Town Meetings monthly
- Publicize these meetings in conjunction with the Committee on Lectures
- Collaborate with PR committee
- Clarify broad role of the UAC by September 30th.
- Discuss role internally to get better focus
- Possibly update bylaws
Court
- Finish briefing cases from 1982-present
- Put on the GSB website
- Completion by the end of the school year.
- Public Relations campaign to raise awareness of students
- Articles in the Daily
- Handing out pamphlets
