About GSB Elections

Elections

Annual elections are held in March for students to run for individual senate seats or as a slate for either President or Vice President. GSB Elections are overseen by an independent un-biased Election Commission. Senatorial candidates are elected by a popular vote of students in their specific constituency. Candidates for President and Vice President are popularly elected by the student body as a whole. Elections are held online by going to www.vote.iastate.edu, logging in using your Net-Id and password, and submitting an online ballot.

Election Commission

The Election Commission is a body made up of six (6) full voting members, up to six (6) alternate members, and is lead by the Election Commissioner. These individuals oversee the entire election from monitoring and enforcing election laws, hosting debates, monitoring the online voting, and holding press conferences to provide information about the election. Members of the Commission are appointed by the GSB President, and confirmed by the GSB Senate. Once seated, they may remain on the Commission until resignation, graduation, or termination of student status at Iowa State University.
