Election Rules and Forms
Running for office? Here's everything you need to know to participate in the election.
Election Code – The election code contains all of the rules and regulations that pertain to the election process. All candidates are strongly encouraged to read and familiarize themselves with this document.

Timeline – There are many important dates to keep track of in the election process. They are summarized in the Election Timeline.
Candidate Seminars – All candidates must attend one candidate seminar where the Election Commissioner will explain the campaign rules and the election timeline. Candidates who absolutely cannot attend one of the scheduled seminars should speak with the Election Commissioner to make alternative arrangements. One candidate seminar remains, and it is scheduled for:
- Monday, February 5 @ 12:00 pm (Memorial Union Room 3512)
Statement of Intent – All candidates must submit a signed Statement of Intent form to the Election Commissioner before beginning to gather petition signatures.

Petitions – All candidates must submit a petition signed by a certain number of ISU students in order to be placed on the ballot. The petition must be signed by 1500 students for executive candidate slates, and 100 students for Senate candidates.

Candidate Biographies – All candidates are encouraged to submit a short biography about themselves to the election commissioner. The biography should be a one-paragraph plain text biography that can contain whatever the candidate would like, with the following exceptions:
- No formatting is allowed (bold, italics, HTML, etc.)
- No web site addresses are allowed.
- No email addresses or other contact information is allowed.
These biographies will be placed on the official ballot to help students select a candidate.
Endorsements – Any official endorsements must be reported to the Election Commission. Endorsements from student organizations must be certified by the signatures of the organization's president and advisor.

Financial Disclosures – All candidates, including those who did not spend any money on their campaign, must file a report of all expenditures and donations to the Election Commission by noon on March 7.
