The Government of the Student Body is governed by federal, state, city, and its own laws. The following documents contain the laws governing the GSB, as well as several other related documents of interest.

The Government of the Student Body Constitution is the governing document of the government. Articles of the Constitution include Membership & Organization, Legislative Branch, Executive Branch, Judicial Branch, Elections, Student Fees Committee Representatives, Access to Information, Powers of the Student Body, Provisions for Amending this Constitution, and Ratification & Implementation.

GSB Bylaws

The Government of the Student Body Bylaws outline standing government policy and operating procedures. Policies included in the Bylaws are Supremacy, Rules of Order, Executive Branch policies, Legislative Branch policies, Judicial Branch policies, Elections, and Ratification.

Articles of Cooperation

The Articles of Cooperation is an agreement between the Government of the Student Body and the Gradate and Professional Student Senate outlining the unique relationship between the two bodies. GSB is the sanctioned representative of all students, while GPSS handles matters exclusively pertaining to graduate and professional students that fall outside the scope of GSB's bylaws.

Finance Priorities & Criteria

The Priorities & Criteria are approved by Senate each year, and specify which student organizations can be funded through GSB, as well as the order in which these clubs should be given priority for funding. The document also explains the details of what expenses clubs can and cannot spend money on.

The Government of the Student Body Election Code outlines policies and procedures of elections, including candidate seminars, debates, campaigning rules, polling locations, and election procedures.

Dead Week Policy

In 2001, the Government of the Student Body and Iowa State University approved these guidelines, designating the last week before finals as Dead Week, and laying out specific policy guidelines.
